Mission Statement

The Westchester Association for the Education of Young Children is a professional organization which advocates for children birth through eight years. It educates, guides policy, and promotes quality early childhood programs.

Founded over 30 years ago (as the Westchester Association for Nursery Education) this nonprofit organization is dedicated to the growth and development of today’s young children. WAEYC provides educational resources to those who work with and for children – a broad based membership of almost 600, including teachers, assistants, administrators, students, care givers, parents, and social workers.

WAEYC is the Westchester affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), striving to influence local, state, and federal policy issues on behalf of young children.

Download Directory of Early Childhood Programs

We are very excited to announce the new WAEYC directory is now online. Many years ago the “red book” was readily available with information on every early childhood program in Westchester but so many years have passed with older programs changing and new centers emerging. It is an invaluable resource for directors, parents and all businesses involved in early childhood. For a fee of $15.00, your center will be listed in the online directory. Complete the page of directory listing information and mail to me. Linda Jo Platt, at the address on the bottom of the information form.
